Wine box packaging sustainability remains top of agenda
With sustainability still at the top of the agenda, eco-friendly packaging innovations are being reflected in the beverage industry. With the growing awareness of environmental issues among consumers around the world, significant efforts to provide eco-friendly packaging concepts can be seen throughout the beverage industry. Packaging design has been a major factor that beverage companies need to consider when bringing their products to market. In May, GlobalData released the Category Packaging Opportunities 2022 - Alcoholic Beverages Report, which looks at trends in the alcohol industry. Alcohol remains a major market in the beverage industry. A survey in the report revealed that more than one-third of drinking consumers drink occasionally (35%), more than one-fifth drink regularly (21%) and less than one-fifth (19%) Drink when socially. According to the same report, nearly half (45%) of global consumers claim it is "extremely important" to be more loyal to brands that support environmental affairs. Globally, issues such as climate change, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss and resource scarcity are in the spotlight amid growing energy demand. The report shows that for the majority of consumers (68%), packaging made from renewable resources is considered extremely or fairly important. Manufacturers of sustainable alcohol products respond to consumer demand for more sustainable products by designing packaging to reduce the material or weight of the product itself, thereby reducing transportation costs and CO2 emissions.
Wine Boxes In addition to beautifully looking packaging products, many businesses have introduced gift preparation solutions. Use attractive functional packaging as a ready-made gift, or offer bottles with a unique style. Premium is used to attract consumers who want to treat themselves by buying something that is considered better and often more expensive. Packaging with elegant decor and upscale design elements, such as limited edition designs, unique patterns or foil block details, is valued by many consumers. An example of this is Debova Polska Military Vodka, a company that has designed a product that is sold in a bottle with an outer oak resembling a large bullet. The bottle's glamorous appearance is considered the perfect gift for military fans on special occasions. Liquor brand Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur has tried to appeal to consumers with "PREZZIEcards", an innovative idea that includes a miniature bottle in the display gift package. The carton has a front cover that opens like a greeting card, which offers a fun and novelty feel to appeal to consumers. GlobalData analyst Pavel Urban explained: "Luxury bespoke packaging is designed to provide consumers with a satisfying experience, which also means satisfaction in minimizing negative impact on the environment. Plastic-free or plant-based materials that are more easily recyclable or biodegradable can be well paired with high-quality luxury. In fact, more and more manufacturers are using sustainable materials to give their products a premium artisan feel." GlobalData's report highlights that nearly half (46%) of consumers cite "time saving" as a key factor when deciding which products to buy. Many consumers are time-starved and often on the go, leading the alcohol industry to offer more products that are easy to use and take with you. Therefore, alcoholic beverage packaging innovations include smaller bottles, extra cups, easy-to-mix solutions or non-fragile materials.
